Working at Heights Refresher Course
The Refresher course is the practical module of the working at heights full day course. In the course, the instructor reviews key outcomes to reinforce their importance while working at heights. The instructor will also update leaners regarding legislative, regulatory and equipment changes. Topics that are covered in the course include:
• Barriers and other Fixed Equipment
• Personal Fall Protection Equipment
• Fall Protection Components
• Anchor Points
• Work Positioning Systems, Work Access Equipment & Platforms
• Rescue Planning
• Written Evaluation
• Equipment Demonstrations
• Practical Evaluation
• Guardrail Evaluation/Demonstration
Course is 4.5 hours (depending on class size and ability)
Maximum class size: 10 participants, Minimum class size: 6 participants
*Course is presented in English; translators may attend course for an additional fee for participants where English language is challenging.

1. Who can deliver refresher training?
All training providers who have been approved by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) to deliver a CPO-approved working at heights training program can deliver working at heights refresher training.
2. What is the validity period of refresher training?
Refresher training is valid for three (3) years from the date of successful completion.
3. Can the refresher be delivered as eLearning?
Refresher training must be delivered face-to-face.
4. Do CPO-approved training providers need to verify whether a learner seeking refresher training has successfully completed a CPO-approved working at heights training program previously?
Yes. Only learners who have successfully completed a CPO-approved working at heights training program delivered by a CPO-approved training provider are eligible to take refresher training and receive a new CPO card.
Learners can present their CPO-issued proof of completion card or the ‘proof of completion’ document given to them by the CPO-approved training provider as evidence that the training has been completed.
5. Do learners receive a new proof of completion card for successfully completing the refresher?
CPO-approved training providers must issue a new proof of completion to successful learners. They must also submit the learner records for refresher training to the Ministry of Labour. Once records are received, the CPO will issue a new proof of completion card to the learner.
6. What if learners lose their CPO-issued proof of training?
Learners who have lost their CPO-issued proof of training card can request a replacement card by calling the Ministry of Labour Health & Safety Contact Centre at 1-877-202-0008.

Working at Heights Refresher Training - Valid MOL WAH card/ticket must be shown to attend.
The Refresher course is run in English and the testing is in English, including the written evaluation. We ask you to identify those who are NOT fluent in ENGLISH prior to the class date. Anyone who does not achieve the minimum 75% pass mark on the written evaluation, cannot attend the Practical portion of the class. The practical testing requires 100% pass marks. Those failing any testing cannot continue and are required to rebook a future class and pay accordingly. No partial refunds.
